Leonard

Leonard comes to us as an owner surrender. Leonard recently lost all use in his back legs but after some steroids and crate rest, he is up and walking again. He has since been to our vet and was diagnosed with an "old" IVDD. L6 and L7 are calcified together. Leonard can walk just fine, he is just a little stiff. He will still run and play with the other dogs. He will need to be on joint supplements and joint lubricant for majority of his life. There is a chance his IVDD could flare up again, but there's also a chance it may not. He is not wheelchair bound, and will likely never need a wheelchair. He has complete control of his bowel and bladder. Anyone interested in him should use extreme caution with jumping and steps. His ideal home would be someone who has experience with IVDD. Leonard will need ramps or small steps to get on the couch and bed. He cannot be in a multi-level home unless the steps are blocked off. Apartment life is not ideal for him. Leonard is crate trained. He is completely vaccinated and his adopter will be contracted to take him to his already scheduled neuter appointment.

From his foster parents:

"Leonard is a sweet and calmer pup. He is more stiff and slower to move around but does love to play with the other dogs and will always want to be around his people. We are currently working on marking him the home but we are confident once he gets neutered these issues will diminish. Leonard is a kind soul who is missing a bottom middle tooth that adds to his character. He is ready to make someone a forever furry companion. He needs a parent who is aware of his previous medical history and is understanding that he will need to be restricted from jumping on or off furniture. Leonard is all for his people and whats going on around him. He is not a fan of his crate and will have a low whimper. If youre looking for a long bodied, slower paced, sweetheart, Leonard might be the one for you"
