Rusty Peter comes to us from a local shelter. He was surrendered there after the other dog in the home was constantly trying to attack him. The shelter told the owners they had to pick one dog to surrender or someone would get killed. Rusty can be a little shy at first and takes a second to warm up. He is a happy boy once he is comfortable with you. The shelter told us he needed to be the only animal but we are learning that is not the case. Rusty gets along great with all the other pups in the foster home. He will need a patient owner who understands his traumatic background and will work with him, not against him. No kids or cats for him, but as we said other dogs are just fine! He is good on a leash, good in a crate, and likes car rides. Rusty is a gentle giant. He would love a family that just wants to go for walks and give belly rubs. He is content lounging on the floor near his people, drinking watermelon water, and taste testing frozen yogurt. Someone that is home more often than not is ideal as Rusty isnt a fan of being in the kennel long or being away from his people. Rusty still needs to be neutered so he is available for foster to adopt within DFW.
