Meet Blaze 🐾
Blaze came to NTASR as part of the Smith County cruelty and hoarding case, where 38 dogs were rescued from heartbreaking conditions. While we'll never know everything he's been through, one thing is certain: Blaze is ready to spend the rest of his life surrounded by the love and comfort he always deserved.
At an estimated 10 years old and just 23 pounds, Blaze is the perfect little sidekick. Think "mini Aussie" meets professional lap warmer.
His greatest joy in life? Being held. If there's an available lap, Blaze believes it was made just for him. He'll happily curl up in your arms, drift off to sleep, and reward you with the sweetest little snores you've ever heard.
Blaze is fully vetted, potty trained, crate trained, and has wonderful house manners. His kennel is his safe place, and he'll tuck himself in when he's ready for a little quiet time (though he'd almost always rather be cuddling with his person). He's also highly food motivated, making him eager to learn as his confidence continues to grow.
Blaze is vision impaired in his left eye, but it doesn't slow him down or keep him from enjoying life. He navigates just fine and is much more interested in staying close to his favorite people than anything else.
Big noises can still be scary after everything he's experienced, so Blaze looks to his humans for reassurance and comfort. He's slowly becoming more adventurous outdoors, enjoying little explorations at his own pace, though he's still learning that walks on a leash can be fun.
Blaze gets along well with other dogs, but if he had his way, he'd much rather have his human all to himself. He isn't looking for a canine playmate. He's looking for someone with a soft lap, gentle hands, and plenty of love to give. Because of that, we think he'd be happiest as an only dog where he can soak up every ounce of affection.
If you're searching for a quiet, gentle companion who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, Blaze is waiting to steal your heart. Those soulful puppy-dog eyes have already perfected the art of asking for one more cuddle... and honestly, you'll never want to tell him no. ❤️
