Meet Botley — the sweetest little shadow you'll ever have. 🤎
Botley's story didn't start the way any dog deserves.
He was one of 38 dogs rescued from a severe hoarding situation in Smith County, and one of 21 welcomed into NTASR to begin a brand-new chapter. While we can't change his past, every day we get to watch him discover what it means to simply be a loved dog.
Estimated to be around 7 years old and weighing 25 pounds, Botley is the perfect mix of gentle, affectionate, and quietly curious.
He's a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels safe, his true personality shines. Botley loves being close to his people, happily curling up in your lap for pets before wandering off to relax in one of his favorite cozy spots. He's independent enough to enjoy his own space but affectionate enough to remind you that you're his favorite person.
One of the sweetest things about Botley is the way he looks at you. He'll sit quietly, making soft eye contact that says everything he can't put into words. After everything he's been through, it's impossible not to fall in love with the trust he's learning to give.
Botley LOVES other dogs, is crate trained, potty trained, and puppy pad trained. He's just beginning to discover the joys of leash walks and loves taking in the world at his own pace. And if there's grass nearby? Expect him to stop for a good roll before continuing his adventure. Because Botley loves other canine companions so much, it's a must that he have a dog buddy in his new home.
Botley doesn't need a perfect family.
He just needs one that's willing to love him, be patient with him, and appreciate all the little moments that make him who he is.
Because once Botley decides you're his person... you'll wonder how you ever lived without him.
