Meet Ford — and look who's starting to come out of his shell. 🤍
 
When animal control entered a filthy home in Smith County, they found 38 dogs living in heartbreaking conditions. Ford was one of them.
NTASR welcomed 21 of those dogs into rescue, and when Ford first arrived, he was incredibly shy and timid. Three weeks later, we're starting to see a whole different side of this sweet boy.
 
Ford is estimated to be 2–4 years old and now weighs about 29 pounds. He's affectionate, gentle, goofy, curious, and very much a professional couch potato. 😂
 
He's slowly started venturing around the house, getting more comfortable with his surroundings, and even playing. Watching him discover that he can actually relax and just be a dog has been pretty special.
 
Ford gets along well with other dogs and hasn't shown any aggression toward people or dogs. He's definitely more comfortable around women and will need someone willing to give him the time and patience he needs to continue building confidence.
 
He's crate trained and will potty outside when taken out, although we're still working on house training and learning to use the doggy door. He's also currently eating a sensitive-tummy diet.
 
Ford isn't going to be the dog who runs up to everyone he meets and immediately demands attention. He's more of a I'll quietly observe you from the couch until I decide you're my person kind of guy.
 
We're pretty sure once he decides you're safe, you're going to have a very sweet little shadow on your hands.
 
Ford has already come a long way. Now he just needs a calm, patient home where he can keep discovering that life can be pretty good. 🤍
