Little Bear

Little Bear is such a great little dog. He came to us as an owner surrender so he is not your typical “rescue” dog. For example, a lot of our hoarding or puppy mill dogs are timid and anxious. Little Bear is neither.

We think Little Bear had a fairly sedate way of life in his previous home. He definitely needs to lose some weight. He currently weighs 45 lbs but should probably be closer to 35-40lbs. He’s approximately 3 years old so despite not being previously active, he is still very playful. He likes to patrol as much as he likes to herd so he will make a good defender of the house.

Little Bear knows all the basic commands, is house trained and is one of the smarter dogs we’ve fostered. He’s easy to train as he is food motivated. He’s great on car rides, used to live with cats and is great with other dogs in the home and children.

Little Bear is left to roam the house when we leave, knows how to use the dog door but is fine with being crated too. He’s good walking on the leash but gets protective when we come across certain other dogs-something we’re working on. He also makes the oddest noise when we pass them, it’s almost like he’s part Husky.

Little Bear’s perfect day starts with a lay in, since he doesn’t love getting up early. He enjoys a 2-3 mile morning walk with bonus visits to the park. He spends a lot of the day outside checking the perimeter, chewing collagen sticks or hard cheese chews and resting.

If you’re looking for an easy dog, Little Bear’s your guy.
