She’s young and playful without being over-the-top. Expect happy morning zoomies before breakfast, excited little greeting barks when you come home, and hilarious wrestling matches with her foster brother, Clifford, where she has no problem body-slamming him despite being half his size! Once playtime is over, she’s content to curl up beside you for a cozy movie night or reading session.

Paprika is full of charming little quirks that make her impossible not to love. She has serious cat energy—she loves perching on the back of the couch with her head or paw resting on your shoulder, finding cozy little nooks, and treating chairs like her own personal throne. She’s also convinced blankets are the perfect hiding place for treats, carefully burying her snacks to save for later. She won’t shadow your every step, but she’ll patiently wait from her favorite spot until you finally sit down… then she’ll be in your lap before you know it.

Paprika is one of 38 dogs rescued from the Smith County cruelty and hoarding case. She and the other dogs survived neglect in heartbreaking conditions. Life outside is still full of new experiences for Paprika. Big cars, loud noises, and thunderstorms can be intimidating after everything she’s been through, but every day she grows a little braver. Walks are becoming more enjoyable as her confidence builds, and while she won’t spend hours exploring the backyard on her own, she loves relaxing beside her people on a patio chair, soaking up the sunshine and fresh air.

Paprika is wonderful with other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling to help show her the ropes. She’s also great with cats and has been incredibly gentle with children she’s met. She’s shy at first with new people, but once she feels safe, she’s all about belly rubs, cuddles, and being as close to you as possible.
