Meet Sabine 💙
Golden retriever energy... but make it Aussie.
Sabine is an estimated 1-2 years old, weighs about 35 pounds, and approaches every day like it's the best day ever. Whether it's a walk, a game of fetch, a car ride, or simply following you around the house to make sure you're not doing anything without her, this girl is ready to be involved.
Sabine came to NTASR from Deep East Texas with four tiny puppies in tow. She, Trinity, and their combined litter of eight puppies were surrendered to a small rural animal shelter. We couldn't leave them there, so we loaded up the car for an East Texas road trip and brought the whole crew into rescue.
Fast forward a few months, and the puppies are growing up, mom duties are officially over, and now it's Sabine's turn to find a family of her own.
Her favorite hobby?
Requesting pets.
Correction... demanding pets.
She's perfected the classic Aussie paw that says, "Excuse me. I noticed you stopped petting me. I'd like to file a formal complaint." And once the scratches resume? Her tiny nub tail goes into full windshield-wiper mode.
Sabine is affectionate without being clingy, playful without being chaotic, and perfectly happy to curl up for a nap once she's gotten her daily dose of fun. She loves adventures, but she's just as content melting into the couch while you binge your latest TV obsession.
She's also running the standard Aussie operating system. Expect the occasional circle around your legs and a few gentle boops to help "organize the flock." No nipping, just quality control.
Sabine gets along well with dogs, kids, and cats. She does have mild resource guarding around high-value treats, so she'll need a family that's comfortable managing those moments. The good news? She happily eats and drinks alongside other dogs with no issues, and she's already proven she's a quick learner.
One thing she's still working on is leash walking. Since much of her early life was spent raising puppies rather than exploring the world, she'll need a family committed to helping her build confidence on leash and continue safe, positive socialization. We have no doubt she'll catch on with a little patience and a pocket full of treats.
Sabine is looking for a family who wants a dog that's equal parts adventure buddy, cuddle bug, and tiny personal assistant. If you've been searching for an Aussie with a heart as big as her personality, she's already waiting by the door. 💙
