Meet Sassy 🩷
 
Sassy came to NTASR as part of the Smith County hoarding case, where 38 dogs were rescued from unimaginable conditions. While we'll never know everything she experienced before rescue, we do know one thing for certain: her past does not define her. It was only one chapter, and every day she's proving that the rest of her story can be filled with safety, love, belly laughs, and the comfort every dog deserves.
 
One of Sassy's biggest milestones is already behind her. She completed her dental and had 15 painful teeth removed. It sounds like a lot, but trust us... she feels so much better now. She's happier, more comfortable, and ready to enjoy life without living with constant dental pain.
 
Sassy is a 7-year-old Mini Australian Shepherd weighing in at 21 pounds of pure sweetness.
 
She can be a little shy when meeting new people and likes to take things at her own pace. But once you've earned her trust, you've got a best friend for life. She's incredibly affectionate and will happily follow you from room to room, always just a step behind, checking in on her favorite person. Expect plenty of kisses, snuggles, and quiet companionship.
 
Don't let her gentle nature fool you. When it's time to play, this girl can absolutely keep up! She loves romping around with other dogs, even ones twice her size, and we'd love to see her join a home with another playful canine companion who can help continue building her confidence.
Sassy is crate trained, potty trained, housetrained, and even puppy pad trained. She's gentle, clever, curious, food motivated, and has settled beautifully into home life.
 
She isn't food aggressive, but she has been known to sneak a bite from another dog's dinner if given the chance. After everything she's been through, we can't say we blame her. A little supervision at mealtime is all she needs.
 
She is still a bit uncertain around some men, so she'll appreciate a patient family willing to let her build trust on her own timeline. The best relationships can't be rushed, and Sassy is absolutely worth the wait.
